Could Bush Be Right On The Immigration Issue?

One of the things I look at when chewing on which position to take on a specific issue is who's screaming the loudest. Who's making the most noise and feeling the most pain. When it comes to the illegals crossing the southern US border the voices are very loud and very diverse but there's one special interest group that stands out. Unions. The unions can't knowingly sign-up illegals. There are 12 million people working in the US that the unions can't touch. There are 12 million people working in the US that are helping keep the union rates in check. Illegals make the socialist unions squeel like stuck pigs and that's a good thing. Not only is that a good thing, it's a funny thing. I laugh when the socialists squeel. The laughter must continue and that's why I don't think immigration from the south should be stopped completely.

Further, what do you think would happen if all of a sudden 12 million illegals were deported? The socialists would would be happy and that would be bad. That would make me sad and we can't have that. Nor can we have 12 million people in the country illegally. So what to do? Exactly what Bush, as influenced by Tony Snow, is doing. Stem the flow of illegals comming in. Make them do it legally. Hence the Guest Worker Program and the proposed amnesty for those already in the country.

I think it may be the right way to go.
